The primary content descriptor  (ACTDEP014)  works complementary with (ACTDEK011) by providing the opportunity for students to develop their understanding of how properties of materials and forces are used in the design of a product and how to critique designs and explore materials to produce solutions.The resource for this strand incorporates traditional technology based resources along with students developing their understanding of how current and emerging technologies are utilised within our society. Students are provided with opportunities to explore technologies through practical experience utilising ICTs and constructing with real life materials which engages the students in critical and creative thinking.

 

 

Years 3 and 4 Content Descriptions

 

  • Design and Technologies Knowledge and Understanding- Investigate how forces and the properties of materials affect the behaviour of a product or system (ACTDEK011)

  • Design and Technologies Processes and Production Skills - Critique needs or opportunities for designing and explore and test a variety of materials, components, tools and equipment and the techniques needed to produce designed solutions (ACTDEP014)

 

  • Year 4 Science - Science Understanding - Chemical sciences - Natural and processed materials have a range of physical properties that can influence their use (ACSSU074)
